Securepay through the acquisition of a number of other payment gateways (Camtech, Directone, Esec) is Australia’s largest payment gateway boasting over 40,000 customers. The NAB transact product was written by Securepay and underpins its offering. Securepay offers most major shopping plugins in its developer network. They are now owned by Australia Post.

SCNet

SCNet is based in Perth and has been providing payment gateways services for 17 years. It has traditionally dealt with larger corporations and boasts customers including Bunnings and Kleenheat Gas. SCNet has an extensive API which includes support for Direct Post, Direct Post iFrame, XML, Web Services, SOAP, RESTful and AJAX and has free plugins for most major shopping carts. SCNet also bundles an excellent free antifraud product at no cost and has full Xero integration.

eWay

eWay has also been offering payment gateway services for over 18 years and is the second largest gateway behind Securepay. They are now owned by Global Payments, a US company that has bought a number of payment gateways in Australia. eWay boasts a very extensive shopping cart plugin list, possibly the most out of all Australian gateways. eWay also offers an extensive API with support for XML and direct support for Xero.

Merchant Warrior

Merchant Warrior is a relatively new payment gateway based in Brisbane. Merchant Warrior also offers their products in multiple countries and has a straight forward pricing plan. There is an XML API available and there and most major shopping carts are supported. Merchant Warrior has a unique loyalty plan whereby the purchase of multiple years gives between a 10% and 20% discount and they promote heavily discounted transaction rates on upfront payments.Basic fraud protection is provided free.

eMatters

eMatters have also been offering their payment gateway for over 15 years and are based in Melbourne. They also have support for many of the widely used shopping carts and have a straight forward XML request API. Their pricing plans are straight forward and they also offer a pay by phone (IVR) and Direct Debit bank service.

Summary

As you can see there are a variety of plans to suit your needs from all payment gateways. The advent of “all in one” or non merchant account plans is quite new to some of the gateways and can provide an easier entry into the market because the merchant does not have to deal directly with the bank.
